Tips for Sightseeing in St Louis

I meant to post this earlier in the week with all the pictures from my St Louis trip, but somehow it got forgotten. So I’m posting it now.

My first tip, and probably the most important, is to take advantage of the public transportation in St Louis. You can buy a day pass for $7, and then use it all day. $7 for unlimited transportation, not a bad deal. And the metro goes throughout the entire city, so wherever you’re wanting to go, most likely the metro or buses go there. The art museum, history museum, and zoo are all located in Forest Park. There is a bus that drives throughout the park, and you can use your metro day pass to ride on it. The park is pretty big, and the bus can drop you off at each place. It was raining when I was there so it was nice to have an option other than walking.

Next tip, buy your tickets online for The Arch (not expensive), and plan to go early because it gets crowded in the afternoons. The museums and the zoo are free, so you don’t need to get tickets for those. Side note, the St Louis zoo is the largest free zoo in the country. How cool is that? If I lived in St Louis, I would go walk around the zoo all the time.

Third, make sure you try the toasted ravioli. It’s a St Louis specialty, and they are delicious! Also, make sure you check out a restaurant called Bridge. They have some of the yummiest food, and it is the perfect place to sit, relax, and end a full day of sightseeing and shopping.

Last but not least, if your looking for something other than sightseeing, go shopping! There are several malls and shopping centers around the city.

Use downtownstl.org to help you plan your trip. Have fun and enjoy experiencing St Louis!
